POTATOES IN AGROECOLOGY

Faced with the end of certain synthetic chemical molecules and the arrival of more restrictive specifications for the use of pesticides, Medinbio has been entrusted with the construction of more innovative and environmentally friendly potato growing methods.

Agricultural context

Our challenge: to produce a pesticide-free potato from emergence to the plate.

Faced with the cessation of certain synthetic chemical molecules and the arrival of more restrictive specifications in the use of pesticides, Medinbio was entrusted with the construction of more innovative and environmentally friendly potato cultivation routes.
This intensively produced crop, with a high varietal diversity, highlights potentially damaging phytosanitary problems. The challenge was therefore great to produce a potato without pesticides from emergence to the plate.
The construction of such a program required the full and complete collaboration of our clients' technical teams to identify existing solutions, to identify technical and agronomic bottlenecks and to define the project's course.

Method implemented by Medinbio

The replacement of synthetic molecules, known for their systemic action, could not be done with a single natural active or a similar mode of action. We therefore worked in stages according to the aggregative system approach.
A scientific, regulatory, and then technical inventory was carried out to arrive at initial working hypotheses. These were then applied in experimental plans specific to the system approach, and in the agronomic context of our client.

Once the most relevant solutions were identified, they were refined and evaluated over several crop cycles and plots.

During deployment, an evaluation and improvement system is set up to respond to agronomic issues. The aim is to be in a process of constant improvement of our solutions.

Products used :

The screening of products and natural active ingredients, in a unitary and then combinatorial way, has allowed us to formulate different products for specific use with actions

SOL
The innovative formulations GAIA SOL and GLOBACIL combine approved microorganisms, associated with prebiotics.
In parallel, tests have been carried out on station (FN3PT and VEGENOV) to address the crucial issue of the management of fungal pathogens such as rhizoctone for the soil part and of course mildew.
SDN
In terms of stimulating natural defences, the combination of different plant extracts is positioned upstream of the risks.

MILVAX
GREENFLASH
NATURAL ASSETS
A formulation combining different plant extracts rich in essential oils has been created to provide a credible response in the event of significant risks and symptoms.

If none of the products taken independently is effective in the curative sense, the aggregative system approach demonstrates its effectiveness. The proof has just been made with more than 90% of effectiveness (ref. VEGENOV 2020 trial) on mildew

Results obtained

From experimental plots to half-farm plots, to several hundred hectares, MEDINBIO itineraries are deployed today in France in different agronomic contexts.

The methodology of the system approach and the formulations created make it possible to comfortably manage mildew pressure on varieties of average sensitivity.

The combination of products, the technicality of the producers and the timing of application remain the key to success in this challenge of potato production without synthetic chemical molecules.

TestimonialsA future-oriented approach to the environment

We are in a planetary emergency that requires a collective and personal effort. The Medinbio method is an interesting alternative to conventional agriculture, it is a future-oriented approach for the environment and future generations. This collaboration has allowed us to save on the IFT (indicator of frequency of phytosanitary treatments) 3 to 4 passages of chemical molecules. The work with Medinbio was very productive and fluid, thanks to the proximity and availability of the teams throughout the process.
