INTEGRATION OF AGRONOMIC ALTERNATIVES

bt_bb_section_bottom_section_coverage_image

Whether it is with the aim of integrating biocontrol solutions or reducing the use of synthetic plant protection products (PPP), our sporty vision of risk management allows us to pool existing solutions and our innovations to meet tomorrow's challenges.

The aggregative system approach proposed by MEDINBIO lends itself particularly well to the reduction of copper doses usually used and to the integration of biocontrol products in a cultural itinerary.
Similarly, it has its place in a process of reducing synthetic molecules (zero pesticide residues, etc.), since when doses are reduced (half dose, quarter dose), support for plant vigour becomes essential to maintain satisfactory effectiveness.

The case of the apple

Agricultural context

The production of a perennial crop such as apples in orchards must deal with multiple biotic stresses between pests (aphids, codling moth, etc.) and fungal and bacterial diseases. The most important problem in orchards is the management of scab caused by the pathogen Venturia inaequalis. The development of this pathogen is exponential, which makes it difficult to manage.

MEDINBIO has proposed the integration of new natural alternatives into the scab management program.

Method implemented by Medinbio

MEDINBIO has studied the natural alternatives already used to manage this problem. Farmers use mixtures of copper and sulphur as a preventive measure and sulphocalcic spray as a curative measure. The latter, although effective, is not easy to spray.
In order to be able to propose new complementary solutions, MEDINBIO studied the development cycle of the fungus. The proposals made by MEDINBIO are based on different stages of the pathogen's development cycle.

Products used :

During the vegetative phase, MEDINBIO proposes the use of biostimulants such as the GREENFLASH compound rich in trace elements, amino acids and glycine betaine.

The interest of this product lies in its capacity to remove potential subcarriers present in the tree and to allow it to withstand the stress caused by the development of the disease. When a plant is stressed, it undergoes oxidative stress which can affect its photosynthesis.
As copper also has a very strong oxidizing power, it is important to rebalance the plant to avoid causing oxidative stress. GREENFLASH is therefore complemented by another biostimulant, HE-TAV, rich in plant extracts with antioxidant properties. This is applied after the application of copper and after a rainfall.
During the winter phase, MEDINBIO selected a PGPR fungus capable of digesting organic matter. Dead leaves on the ground of trees in the orchard represent the main source of primary inoculum for the pathogen. The application of the fungus reduces this source of infection by stimulating leaf decomposition.
SOL
The formulations combine registered microorganisms of interest, associated with prebiotics on the whole. They have demonstrated in different contexts their interest in the management of fungal pathogens such as rhizoctonia (ref FN3PT and VEGENOV trials) and mildew.
GAIA SOL
GLOBACIL
SDN
In terms of stimulating natural defences, the combination of different plant extracts, associated with a frequency and positioning upstream of the risks, demonstrate more than 90% effectiveness on mildew (ref. VEGENOV 2020 trial)

NATURAL ASSETS
A formulation combining different plant extracts rich in essential oils has been created to provide a credible response in the event of significant risks and symptoms.

Results obtained

The integration of these products into the arborist's itinerary has increased plant vigor while reducing a major source of primary scab inoculum.
